RENEWAL OF (CABLE) DISTRIBUTION UNDERTAKING LICENCES DUE TO EXPIRE IN 1994

The Commission has received the following applications:

QUEBEC REGION / RÉGION DU QUÉBEC

1. COLOMBIER, LATOUR, PORT-LAVAL AND SURROUNDING AREAS, Quebec
|
Application (940418700) by TÉLÉCÂBLE CÔTE-NORD INC., 113 Vallilée Street, Chûte-aux-Outardes, Quebec, G0H 1C0, to amend the broadcasting licence of the (cable) distribution undertaking serving the above-mentioned localities, by deleting the existing condition of licence relating to the construction and operation of the undertaking and substituting therefor:

"It is a condition of licence that construction of the undertaking be completed and that it be in operation on or before 26 april 1995."
|
The Commission has already granted an extension of the time limit to implement the aforementioned authority from 26 October 1993 to 26 April 1994.
|
The extension of the term limit is for the area located between Rivière-Blanche and Port-Laval. This area covers 3 kilometres along highway 138, and includes approximately 40 households.
|
The licensee indicates that Hydro-Quebec intends to complete before Winter 1994, the replacement of its poles in the areas of Rivière-Blanche and Port-Laval.

Application (931822100) by RADIO NORD INC., P.O. Box 4010, Hull, Quebec, J8Z 1W5, to amend the broad-casting licence of the (television) programming undertaking CFGS-TV Hull, by increasing the effective radiated power from 176,100 to 467,400 watts.

The licensee proposes to relocate the transmitter site to a site located less than a kilometre from the presently authorized location at Embrun, Ontario.

Application (931823900) by RADIO NORD INC., P.O. Box 4010, Hull, Quebec, J8Z 1W5, to amend the broad-casting licence of the (television) programming undertaking CHOT-TV Hull, by increasing the effective radiated power from 285,000 to 498,000 watts.

The licensee proposes to relocate the transmitter site from Camp Forture, Quebec to a proposed site at Embrun, Ontario, located approxima-tely 50 kilometres southeast of the present site. This change will affect the authorized coverage area.

Application (940396500) by VIDÉOTRON LTÉE, 300 Viger Avenue East, 6th Floor, Montréal, Quebec, H3X 3W4, for the (cable) distribution undertaking serving Princeville, to make the following changes:

- by removing the local head end;
|
- by linking the undertaking to the Victoriaville head end and by adding the three distant head ends of Pie IX/Rosemont, Villa Maria and Mont Saint-Grégoire, Quebec which are part of the Trans-Québec network;
|
- by amending the broadcasting licence to be authorized to distribute, on the basic service, CFTU-TV (IND) Montréal, CFKS-TV (TQS) Sherbrooke, Quebec, WCAX-TV (CBS) and WVNY (ABC) Burlington, Vermont, WCFE-TV (PBS) and WPTZ (NBC) Plattsburgh, New York, received via microwave.

The licensee proposes also to discontinue the distribution of the signals WXYZ-TV (ABC), WTVS (PBS), WDIV (NBC) and WJBK-TV (CBS) Detroit, Michigan, received via satellite from CANCOM, on the basic service.
|
- by amending the broadcasting licence by relieving the licensee from the requirement that it distribute the local signal CKTM-TV (SRC) Trois-Rivières, Quebec, pursuant to paragraph 22(1)(a) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986. The licensee proposes to distribute the regional signal CKSH-TV (SRC) Sherbrooke, Quebec.
