Public Notice

Ottawa, 9 March 1994
Public Notice CRTC 1994-22
REVISED LISTS OF ELIGIBLE SATELLITE SERVICES
Attached to this Public Notice are revised lists of "Part II Eligible Satellite Services" (Part II list), "Part III Eligible Canadian Satellite Services" (Part III Canadian list), and "Part III Eligible Non-Canadian Satellite Services" (Part III Non-Canadian list).
The Part II list (Appendix A) contains satellite services authorized for distribution by licensees holding a Class 1 licence or a Class 2 licence for an undertaking that has 2,000 or more subscribers. The Part III Canadian and Non-Canadian lists (Appendix B) contain satellite services authorized for distribution by licensees holding a Part III licence or licensees holding a Class 2 licence for an undertaking that has fewer than 2,000 subscribers.
WBZ-TV (NBC) and WGBH-TV (PBS) Boston
In Decision CRTC 94-76 dated 9 March 1994, the Commission approved an application by Canadian Satellite Communications Inc. (CANCOM) to amend its broadcasting licence to carry on a multiple channel television and radio broadcasting distribution undertaking, by adding the signals of WBZ-TV (NBC) and WGBH-TV (PBS) Boston, Massachusetts to the signals that it is authorized to distribute. In order to authorize the distribution of these signals by Class 1 and 2 and Part III cable licensees, WBZ-TV and WGBH-TV have been added to the Part II list and Part III Canadian list.
As indicated in Decision CRTC 94-76, the Commission advises cable licensees that they may distribute only one CANCOM signal of each U.S. network. Accordingly, a note has been placed on the Part II and Part III Canadian lists to reflect this restriction.
CITY-TV (IND) Toronto
In Decision CRTC 94-77 dated 9 March 1994, the Commission approved an application by CANCOM to amend its licence by adding the signal of CITY-TV Toronto to the signals that it is authorized to distribute.
In order to authorize the distribution of this signal by licensees holding Class 2 (fewer than 2,000 subscribers) or Part III licences, CITY-TV has been added to the Part III Canadian list.
