Decision

Ottawa, 19 May 1994
Decision CRTC 94-244
Regional Cable TV (Central) Inc.
Newburgh, Ontario - 931640700
Licence renewal
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1994-12 dated 11 February 1994, the Commission renews the Class 2 (fewer than 2,000 subscribers) licence held by Regional Cable TV (Central) Inc. for the cable distribution undertaking serving Newburgh from 1 September 1994 to 31 August 2001. The licence will be subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
As a consequence of amendments to Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations), announced in Public Notice CRTC 1994-7 dated 3 February 1994, the operation of this Class 2 cable distribution undertaking with fewer than 2,000 subscribers is now regulated pursuant to Parts I and III of the regulations, with the exception of the requirements stipulated in section 23.
Therefore, the licensee's proposal to continue to distribute WXYZ-TV and WDIV (NBC) Detroit, Michigan, as part of the basic service, is consistent with the amended regulations and no longer requires authorization.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. It encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.

Secretary General
