Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1992-79 dated 16 November 1992, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CBR Calgary (the originating station), by authorizing the licensee to add transmitters at Medicine Hat and Etzikom, operating on frequency 98.3 MHz (channel 252A) and 92.1 MHz (channel 221A) respectively, with an effective radiated power of 3,000 watts at Medicine Hat and 1,114 watts at Etzikom.

The Commission notes that the transmitters approved herein will replace the existing transmitter CJMH Medicine Hat, which is currently licensed to Monarch Broadcasting Ltd. (Monarch). Monarch has indicated that it will surrender the licence for CJMH when the new transmitters become operational.The Department of Communications (DOC) has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that Broadcasting Certificates will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DOC that its technical requirements have been met, and that Broadcasting Certificates will be issued.
