a) to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CBU Vancouver, British Columbia, by deleting the transmitter CBTB Bella Bella; and

b) to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CBYG-FM Prince George, British Columbia, by adding a transmitter at Bella Bella, operating on a frequency of 89.9 MHz (channel 210A) with an effective radiated power of 98.3 watts.

As a result, residents of Bella Bella would then receive the programs of CBYG-FM Prince George, British Columbia instead of CBU Vancouver, British Columbia. CBTB Bella Bella will be shut down within 12 months of the commencement of broadcasting from the FM transmitter.

CBUV will be shut down within 12 months of the implementation of the power increase at CBUV-FM.

The applicant states that, as a result, this change will improve the reception quality in Fort St. James and significantly in the surrounding communities.

This transmitter will replace AM transmitter CBRW Port Hardy which will be shut down within 12 months of the commencement of broadcasting from the new transmitter.

The applicant states that the new transmitter will improve the service quality in and around the community of Port Hardy.

The applicant states that the new transmitter will improve coverage, reliability and quality of service to the town of Dawson and to the outlying areas and extend service beyond the current effective coverage area of the low power radio transmitter CBDE Dawson.
|
This transmitter will replace CBDE Dawson which will be shut down within 12 months of the commencement of broadcasting from the new transmitter.
