Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1991-101 dated 4 October 1991, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CHMK-FM Manouane, from 1 September 1992 to 31 August 1999, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
CHMK-FM will broadcast a total of 101 hours per week of programming, of which 88 hours 30 minutes will be local programming and 12 hours 30 minutes will originate from the Société de Communication Attikamekw Montagnais; 100 hours of this programming will be in the Attikamek language and 1 hour will be in French.
The Commission notes that this station is a Type A FM native radio station in accordance with Public Notice CRTC 1990-89 dated 20 September 1990 entitled Native Broadcasting Policy.
It is a condition of licence that the licensee adhere to the guidelines on sex-role portrayal set out in the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' (CAB) Sex-Role Portrayal Code for Television and Radio Programming, as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission. It is also a condition of licence that the licensee adhere to the provisions of the CAB's Broadcast Code for Advertising to Children, as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.
