BELL CANADA AND BRITISH COLUMBIA TELEPHONE COMPANY - RESTRUCTURING OF TARIFFS FOR PBX TRUNKS AND CENTRAL OFFICE LINES

Background
|
In Bell Canada and British Columbia Telephone Company - Restructuring of Tariffs for PBX Trunks and Central Office Lines, Telecom Public Notice CRTC 92-16, 27 March 1992 (Public Notice 92-16), the Commission noted that it had written to Bell Canada (Bell), British Columbia Telephone Company (B.C. Tel) and other telephone companies under its jurisdiction requesting their comments as to the implications for access line tariffs of the February 1991 finding of the Terminal Attachment Program Advisory Committee that mutually exclusive technical definitions for key systems and PBXs are no longer practical. In Public Notice 92-16, the Commission summarized the reports filed by the telephone companies in response to its letter and directed Bell and B.C. Tel to submit further reports on possible rating approaches. The Commission also stated that it would initiate a proceeding to consider those further reports once they were filed.

The Commission received Bell's report on 31 August 1992. B.C. Tel filed its report, together with a proposed tariff filed under Tariff Notice 2701, on 11 September 1992. Both Bell and B.C. Tel have filed information for which they have claimed confidentiality. Abridged versions of this information have been provided for the public record.

The Commission invites comment on the issues raised in Public Notice 92-16, on the further reports filed by Bell and B.C. Tel, and on B.C. Tel Tariff Notice 2701.

1. The further reports filed by Bell and B.C. Tel, and B.C. Tel's Tariff Notice 2701, may be examined at their respective business offices or at the offices of the CRTC in the following locations:

3. Those who registered pursuant to Public Notice 92-16 will be considered parties to this proceeding. Those who did not register pursuant to that Public Notice, but who wish to participate in this proceeding, must file a notice of intention to participate with the Commission, serving copies on Bell and B.C. Tel, by 29 December 1992.

4. Interested parties may address interrogatories to Bell or B.C. Tel. Any such interrogatories are to be filed with the Commission and served on the company in question by 19 January 1993.
|
|
5. Bell and B.C. Tel are to file responses to any interrogatories with Commission, serving copies on interested parties, by 9 February 1993.
|
|
6. Interested parties may file comments with the Commission, serving copies on Bell and B.C. Tel, by 2 March 1993.
|
|
7. Bell and B.C. Tel may file replies to any comments, serving copies on interested parties, by 23 March 1993.

|
8. Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely mailed, by that date.
