The Commission has received the following applications:

1. MOUNT UNIACKE AND THE LAKELANDS AREA, Nova Scotia
|
Application (920631900) by SHAW CABLESYSTEMS (N.S.) LIMITED, 480 - 171 West Esplanade, North Vancouver, British Columbia, V7M 3J9, to amend the broadcasting licence to carry on the (cable) distribution undertaking serving Mount Uniacke and the Lakelands Area, as follows:
|
- by adding a condition of licence relieving the licensee from the requirement of carrying 4 CANCOM signals on the basic service for Mount Uniacke pursuant to Section 23 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986; and
|
- by deleting the local head-end at Mount Uniacke (Part III) and interconnect to the Bedford-Sackville, Nova Scotia (Class 1) system.
|
The licensee states that the Mount Uniacke subscribers would receive the same services as that of the Bedford-Sackville system at no additional costs.

Application (920959400) by EMTEL INC., 135 Alexandre Street, Valleyfield, Quebec, J6S 3K5, to amend the broadcasting licence to carry on the (cable) distribution undertaking serving the above-mentioned localities, as follows:

- by being relieved, by condition of licence, from the requirement to own and operate its local head-end, pursuant to Section 4 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986.
|
The applicant proposes feeding the undertaking from the Valleyfield Transvision Inc. facilities located at Valleyfield, Quebec.
|
- by adding a condition of licence allowing the licensee to distribute, at its option, CFTU-TV (IND) Montréal, Quebec, received via microwave on the basic service; and
|
- by adding WETK (PBS) Burlington, Vermont received via microwave on the basic service.
|
Valleyfield Transvision Inc. and Emtel Inc. are both controlled by Mr. Émile Page.

Application (920986700) by MAITLAND CABLE TV LIMITED to amend the broadcasting licence to carry on the (cable) distribution undertaking serving Little Britain, by deleting the existing condition of licence relating to the construction and operation of the undertaking and substituting therefor:

"It is a condition of licence that construction of the undertaking be completed and that it be in operation on or before 1 September 1993."
|
The Commission has already granted an extension of the time limit to implement the aforementioned authority from 31 March 1991 to 1 September 1992.

Application (920609500) by the CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION to amend the broadcasting licence to carry on the (radio) programming undertaking for CBTK-FM Kelowna, British Columbia, by changing the frequency of its rebroadcaster CBRZ Bralorne, from 630 to 1350 KHz.
|
The Department of Communications advises that this change of frequency will not affect the coverage area of the station.
