Decision CRTC 92-147

Edgar Kendall
Hermitage/Sandyville, Newfoundland - 910706100 - 911792000
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1991-100 dated 4 October 1991, the Commission renews the licence held by Edgar Kendall, for the cable distribution undertaking serving Hermitage/Sandyville, from 1 September 1992 to 31 August 1996.
This term will enable the Commission to consider the renewal of this licence at the same time as that of other undertakings in the area.
The operation of this undertaking is regulated pursuant to Parts I and III of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) and the licence will be subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
The licensee is authorized, by condition of licence, to distribute the Atlantic Satellite Network, received via satellite, provided that it is distributed on an unrestricted channel of the basic service.
The Commission also approves, by condition of licence, the application to be relieved from the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(b) of the regulations to distribute priority signal CJOX-TV-1 (CTV) Grand Bank, Newfoundland as part of the basic service. In approving this request, the Commission has taken into consideration the fact that the Department of Communications has confirmed the inadequate reception quality of CJOX-TV-1 at Hermitage/Sandyville.
The Commission notes that the licensee provides the CTV network service to Hermitage/Sandyville through the distribution of CHAN-TV Vancouver, received via satellite from the CANCOM network.
