Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1991-101 dated 4 October 1991, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CIMB-FM Betsiamites, from 1 September 1992 to 31 August 1999, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.

CIMB-FM will broadcast a total of 73 hours per week of programming in the Montagnais language, of which 63 hours will be local programming and 10 hours will originate from the Société de Communication Attikamekw Montagnais.

The Commission notes that this station is a Type B FM native radio station in accordance with Public Notice CRTC 1990-89 dated 20 September 1990 entitled Native Broadcasting Policy.

The applicant is reminded of the recently implemented amendments to the Radio Regulations, 1986, which set out requirements for a minimum level of Spoken Word programming and Canadian musical selections.
|
It is a condition of licence that the licensee broadcast no more than an average of 4 minutes of advertising per hour per day, with a maximum of 6 minutes in any given hour, in accordance with the native radio policy for Type B stations.

It is a condition of licence that the licensee adhere to the guidelines on sex-role portrayal set out in the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' (CAB) Sex-Role Portrayal Code for Television and Radio Programming, as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.

It is also a condition of licence that the licensee adhere to the provisions of the CAB's Broadcast Code for Advertising to Children, as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.
