Telecom Public Notice CRTC 1991-28
UNITEL COMMUNICATIONS INC. - REVISIONS TO FACSROUTE AND DIALCOM SERVICES, INTRODUCTION OF FACSROUTE IN SASKATCHEWAN
Reference: Tariff Notice 626
The Commission has received an application from Unitel Communications Inc., dated 19 March 1991, for tariff revisions related to its FacsRoute and Dialcom services.
The proposed tariff revisions provide for the introduction of FacsRoute in Saskatchewan by means of direct analogue connection. Saskatchewan Broadband Exchange Service customers who wish to send only facsimile messages would be able to migrate to FacsRoute without paying the otherwise applicable service charge of $100 per analogue connection. Unitel submits that such customers have already paid for access. Unitel also states that, in order to improve FacsRoute's competitiveness and stimulate new sales in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, it is proposing to waive the above-noted service charge in those provinces for a four-month period beginning 18 April 1991.
Unitel currently offers FacsRoute customers the option of having a Telex number at no additional monthly charge. Unitel proposes that FacsRoute customers pay a monthly charge of $20.00 for this service, the same rate applicable to T-Facs customers that do not subscribe to FacsRoute. Unitel also proposes revisions to its Dialcom service, including changes in the billing increment and the introduction of new minimum charges per message.
In support of its application, Unitel has filed information for which it has claimed confidentiality. Unitel has provided an abridged version of this information for the public record.
If you wish to comment on the application, please write to Mr. Allan J. Darling, Secretary General, CRTC, Ottawa, Ontario, K1A 0N2, by 6 June 1991. A copy of your letter should be sent to Mr. A.G. Duncan, General Manager, Regulatory Matters, Unitel Communications Inc., 3300 Bloor Street West, Toronto, Ontario, M8X 2W9.
The Commission has given the proposed tariff revisions interim approval and will make a final determination after comments received in response to this public notice have been considered.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
