Decision

Ottawa, 22 November 1991
Decision CRTC 91-846
The Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TVOntario)
Kirby's Corner, Ontario - 910020700
At a Public Hearing in the National
Capital Region beginning on 8 July 1991, the Commission considered an application by The Ontario Educational Communications Authority
(TVOntario) for authority to carry on a television broadcasting transmitting undertaking at Kirby's Corner to rebroadcast the programs of "La Chaîne française", on channel 51 with a transmitter power of 40 watts.
In accordance with Public Notice CRTC 1991-63 entitled New Broadcasting Act - Amendments to Classes of
Licence, the Commission approves the application and amends the licence for "La Chaîne Française" by authorizing the licensee to add a transmitter at Kirby's Corner.
This approval is subject to the requirement that construction of the transmitting facilities be completed and that they be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or, where the applicant applies to the Commission within this period and satisfies the Commission that it cannot complete implementation before the expiry of this period and that an extension is in the public interest, within such further periods of time as may be approved in writing by the Commission. Should the Commission refuse to approve an extension of time requested by the licensee, the authority granted shall lapse and become null and void upon termination of the last approved extension period.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Communications that it will issue an amendment to the Broadcasting Certificate.
Allan J. Darling
