Decision

Ottawa, 29 January 1991
Decision CRTC 91-79
University of Guelph Radio - Radio Gryphon
Guelph, Ontario - 894416700
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1990-84 dated 23 August 1990, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CFRU-FM Guelph by increasing the effective radiated power from 50 watts to 250 watts.
The applicant has indicated that this power increase will not significantly change CFRU-FM's coverage and that it will improve service to Guelph and vicinity.
The Department of Communications (DOC) has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that an amendent to the Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the undertaking's proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with paragraph 13(1)(b) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DOC that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
The Commission acknowledges the interventions by Ed Video Inc./Media Arts Centre, Shaw Radio Ltd., licensee of CHAY-FM Barrie, CFMU-FM Inc., licensee of CFMU-FM Hamilton, and Marie Lafontaine regarding this application.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
