Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1991-51 dated 10 May 1991, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CHRG-FM (Maria) from 1 September 1991 to 31 August 1996, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1990-89 dated 20 September 1990 entitled Native Broadcasting Policy, the Commission will issue a licence for a Type B FM native radio station. In addition, in accordance with that policy, it is a condition of licence that at least 30% of all musical selections broadcast each week be Canadian.
It is a condition of licence that the applicant broadcast no more than an average of 4 minutes of advertising per hour per day, with a maximum of 6 minutes in any given hour, in accordance with the native radio policy for Type B stations.It is a condition of licence that the licensee adhere to the self-regulatory guidelines on sex-role portrayal set out in the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' (CAB) Sex-Role Portrayal Code for Television and Radio Programming, as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.
It is also a condition of licence that the licensee adhere to the provisions of the CAB's Broadcast Code for Advertising to Children, as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the licence will only be renewed at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Communications that it will issue a Broadcasting Certificate.
