BELL CANADA - MEGALINK SERVICE

The Commission has received an application from Bell Canada (Bell), dated 28 November 1990, for approval of the introduction of Megalink service, which would provide digital access from a customer's premises to the public switched telephone network and to various switched and dedicated services. Bell states that the proposed Megalink service is based on the Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) Primary Rate Interface Standard, as developed by the International Telegraph and Telephone Consultative Committee (CCITT).

In support of its application, Bell has submitted economic information for which it as claimed confidentiality. It has also provided an abridged version of this information for the public record.

Procedure
|
1. Bell's application may be examined at any of its business offices, or at the offices of the CRTC, Room 201, Central Building, Les Terrasses de la Chaudière, 1 Promenade du Portage, Hull, Quebec, or Complex Guy-Favreau, East Tower, 200 René-Lévesque Blvd. West, 6th Floor, Montreal, Quebec. A copy of the application may be obtained by any interested person upon request directed to Bell at the address shown below.

3. Persons wishing to participate in this proceeding (interveners) must file a notice of intention to participate with the Commission, serving a copy on Bell, by 5 February 1991. The Commission will issue a complete list of parties and their mailing addresses.

4. The Commission intends to address interrogatories to Bell by 5 February 1991. Interveners may also address interrogatories to the company. Any such interrogatories must be filed with the Commission and served on Bell by 5 February 1991.

5. Bell is to file responses to all interrogatories, serving copies on the interveners, by 26 February 1991.
|
6. Requests by interveners for further responses to their interrogatories, specifying in each case why a further response is both relevant and necessary, and requests for public disclosure of information for which confidentiality has been claimed, setting out the reasons for disclosure, must be filed with the Commission and served on Bell by 8 March 1991.

7. Bell is to file written responses to requests for further responses to interrogatories and requests for public disclosure of information, serving copies on the interveners, by 13 March 1991.

8. The Commission will issue directions as to further procedure once a decision has been made with respect to any requests for further responses or for public disclosure of information.

9. Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely mailed, by that date.
