Decision

Ottawa, 4 September 1991
Decision CRTC 91-719
Maclean Hunter Limited, operating under the name of Maclean Hunter Cable TV
Part of Hamilton, Ontario - 902608900
Following a Public Hearing in the National Capital Region held on 5 March 1991, the Commission renews the Class 1 licence for the cable distribution undertaking serving part of Hamilton, held by Maclean Hunter Limited, operating under the name of Maclean Hunter Cable TV, from 1 October 1991 to 31 August 1996. The operation of this undertaking is regulated pursuant to Parts I and II of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) and the licence will be subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
Pursuant to paragraph 10(1)(j) of the regulations, the licensee is authorized to continue to distribute, at its option, the programming services of WJET-TV (ABC), WJEE-TV (CBS), and WQLN (PBS) Erie, Pennsylvania, received over-the-air, as part of the basic service. The Commission notes that the licensee has been distributing these signals on its system for many years. The Commission reaffirms the particular importance that it attaches to the development of community programming and has taken note of the annual budgets which will be allocated for this purpose during the new licence term. The Commission encourages the licensee to continue its efforts to develop community programs that reflect subscriber interests and concerns.
The Commission acknowledges the intervention by the Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentworth in support of this renewal application.
