Decision CRTC 91-687
ADMINISTRATIVE RENEWAL OF THE RADIO AND TELEVISION NETWORK LICENCES OF THE CANADIAN BROADCASTING CORPORATION
In a letter dated 8 February 1991, the President of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation requested an extension of the Corporation's radio and television network licences because the continuing financial uncertainties faced by the Corporation would make it difficult for the Corporation to discuss meaningfully its plans at a public hearing tentatively scheduled for the fall of 1991.
The Commission has considered the Corporation's request and renews the licences of the Corporation's television networks from 1 April 1992 to 31 March 1993, and those of the radio networks and the unimplemented radio undertakings included in the appendix to this decision, from 1 April 1992 to 31 March 1993, subject to the terms and conditions specified in the current licences.
With respect to the latter, the Commission expects the renewal period to enable the Corporation to address more fully the matter of the unimplemented FM undertakings and the provision of television and radio service to Francophones outside Quebec.
