Decision

Ottawa, 23 July 1991
Decision CRTC 91-499
Cable Service Ltd.Elgin, New Brunswick - 902349000 - 910084300
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1991-34 dated 27 March 1991, the Commission renews the licence for the cable distribution undertaking serving Elgin, held by Cable Service Ltd., from 1 September 1991 to 31 August 1998. The operation of this undertaking is regulated pursuant to Parts I and III of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) and the licence will be subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
In addition to the services required or authorized to be distributed pursuant to the applicable sections of the regulations, the licensee is authorized, by condition of licence, to continue to distribute the Atlantic Satellite Network, received via satellite, provided that it is distributed on an unrestricted channel of the basic service.
The Commission approves, by condition of licence, the licensee's request to be relieved of the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(a) of the regulations with respect to the distribution of the local service CIHF-TV-3 Moncton. In approving this request, the Commission has considered a technical assessment conducted by the Department of Communications which confirms that, as a result of topographical obstructions in the area, the reception quality of this signal is very poor. The Commission notes that no adequate alternate over-the-air programming service is available.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
