Decision CRTC 91-291
The Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TVOntario)
Pembroke, Ontario - 902396100
Following a Public Hearing held in the National Capital Region on 5 March 1991, the Commission approves the application for a licence for an English-language television broadcasting transmitting undertaking at Pembroke to rebroadcast, on channel 29 with a transmitter power of 60,300 watts, the programs of TVOntario, received via satellite.
The Commission will issue a licence to The Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TVOntario) expiring 31 August 1992, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued. This term will enable the Commission to consider the renewal of this licence at the same time as that of TVOntario's licence for its English-language educational network.
It is a condition of licence that construction of the undertaking be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or, where the applicant applies to the Commission within this period and satisfies the Commission that it cannot complete implementation before the expiry of this period and that an extension is in the public interest, within such further period of time as is approved in writing by the Commission.
In a related decision released today (Decision CRTC 91-290), the Commission approved an application for a licence for a television undertaking at Pembroke to rebroadcast on channel 17 the programs of the French-language educational programming service operated by TVOntario ("La Chaîne française").
