Decision

Ottawa, 9 May 1991
Decision CRTC 91-279
Balsa Broadcasting Corp.
St. Albert, Alberta
For administrative reasons, the Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CHMG St. Albert from 1 September 1991 to 31 August 1992, subject to the same terms and conditions as the present licence.
In Decision CRTC 91-280 of today's date, the Commission approved applications by Western World Communications Corp. (Western World) to acquire the assets of CJCA and CIRK-FM Edmonton. Western World is the parent company of Balsa Broadcasting Corp. (Balsa). In its decision, the Commission stated the expectation that Western World adhere to its commitment to divest itself of ownership of CHMG St. Albert, and to submit an application for approval of the transfer of effective control of Balsa within six months of the date of closing of the transaction approved in that decision.
The Commission considers that the licence term granted CHMG in the present decision will enable it to hear an application and render a decision with respect to the anticipated transfer of control of Balsa to a third party.

Secretary General
