BELL CANADA - RESTRUCTURING OF RATES FOR COMPETITIVE NETWORK SERVICES

The Commission has received an application from Bell Canada (Bell), dated 25 January 1990, for the approval of tariff revisions for its competitive network services. The company is proposing revisions to the rates for the following services: Megaroute Local, Megaroute and Megastream Intercity, Dataroute, Interexchange Voice Grade Channels (IXVGs), Datalink and Datapac. The company also proposes to introduce rates for DS-3 Service.

Finally, the company is proposing a revised discount structure, applicable initially to Megaroute and Megastream services, in which discount levels would be based on the duration of the customer's contract and the monthly billing amount.

In support of its application, Bell has submitted certain information for which it has claimed confidentiality. It has also provided an abridged version of this information for the public record.

The procedures to be followed in connection with this proceeding are set out below.

Procedure

1. A copy of the application may be obtained by any interested person upon request directed to the company at the address shown below.

3. Interested persons wishing to participate in this proceeding (interveners) must file a notice of intention to participate with the Commission and serve a copy on Bell by 26 February 1990. The Commission will issue a complete list of parties and their mailing addresses.

4. Interveners may address interrogatories to Bell. Any such interrogatories must be filed with the Commission and served on Bell by 26 February 1990.
|
5. Bell's responses to any interrogatories must be filed with the Commission and served on interveners by 19 March 1990.
|
6. Interveners may file comments with the Commission, serving a copy on Bell, by 17 April 1990.
|
7. Bell may file a reply to any comments, serving a copy on the interveners, by 27 April 1990.
|
8. Where a document is to be filed or served by a specific date, the document must be actually received, not merely mailed, by that date.
