Decision

Ottawa, 14 September 1990
Decision CRTC 90-900
Vidéotron Ltée
Part of Montréal and surrounding ares, Quebec - 900798000
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1990-67 dated 11 July 1990, the Commission approves, by condition of licence, the application by Vidéotron Ltée, licensee for the broadcasting receiving undertaking serving the areas noted above, to be relieved from the requirement of paragraph 16(2)(b) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 that it distribute the programming services of CFNJ-FM Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon and CJLA-FM Lachute.
In considering the above request, the Commission has taken into account the licensee's argument that CFNJ-FM's and CJLA-FM's local programming is of little interest to the residents of these areas; moreover, the signals of these local stations are distributed to the communities concerned from the local head end closest to these stations and there is no more room on the audio band of the undertaking in question.
Alain-F. Desfossés
Secretary General
