Telecom Public Notice

Ottawa, 1 May 1989
Telecom Public Notice CRTC 1989-20
BELL CANADA - LOCAL CHANNEL RATE INCREASES
Reference: Tariff Notice 2907
The Commission has received an application from Bell Canada (Bell), dated 4 November 1988, for approval of tariff revisions providing for increases in the rates for local channels.
Bell proposes to increase by 20% the rates for the following local channels: voice-grade, above voice-grade, teletype and signal channels, channels between buildings on different properties, channels between points in the same building and channels between buildings on continuous property. Bell does not propose to increase the rate for new or additional channels between buildings on continuous property in service after 1 September 1987.
In support of its application, Bell filed an economic evaluation study addressing the impact of the proposed rate changes. The company also filed a Prospective Annualized Revenue Cost (PARC) study examining the prospective causal costs and revenues of serving growth in demand.
On 28 March 1989, following an exchange of correspondence with the Commission, Bell submitted a net present value study. The company claimed confidentiality for certain data contained in the study. It submitted an abridged version of the study for the public record.
