Decision

Ottawa, 10 November 1989
Decision CRTC 89-841
Frontenac Broadcasting Company Limited
Kingston, Ontario - 890420300
Following a Public Hearing in the National Capital Region on 27 June 1989, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CKWS-TV Kingston by decreasing the effective radiated power from 164,000 watts to 154,000 watts. The Commission also notes that the licensee will construct a new tower on Wolfe Island, increase the antenna height and change the antenna radiation pattern.
The licensee has indicated that these changes will extend CKWS-TV's coverage to the northeast in the direction of Brockville and to the west in the direction of Belleville, Ontario.
In accordance with paragraph 13(1)(b) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Communications that it will issue an amendment to the Technical Construction and Operating Certificate.
Fernand Bélisle
Secretary General
