Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1988-88 dated 2 June 1988, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the licensee's FM station authorized in Decision CRTC 87-576 dated 20 July 1987, by changing the location of its proposed main studio from Bathurst to Caraquet, New Brunswick and by establishing a secondary studio at Bathurst.
In approving this application, the Commission has taken into consideration an intervention received from Radio Peninsule Inc. expressing concerns regarding the provision of local radio programming for the francophone population in the area and the licensee's reply thereto. The Commission has also considered the licensee's statement in its application that when the radio station commences operation, the Bathurst studio will produce 6 hours 42 minutes of programming each week, subsequently increasing to 15 hours per week.
The Commission expects the licensee to adhere to its own commitment of providing a minimum of 6 hours 42 minutes of programming each week, originating from the Bathurst studio.
The Commission notes that the licensee has withdrawn that part of its application proposing to change its transmitter site.
