Decision

Ottawa, 17 November 1988
Decision CRTC 88-811
Gravenhurst Cable System Limited
Bracebridge and Gravenhurst, Ontario -880307400 -880302500
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1988-162 dated 30 September 1988, the Commission approves the applications to amend the licences for the broadcasting receiving undertakings serving Bracebridge and Gravenhurst, by adding a condition of licence relieving the licensee of the requirement of section 9 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 to distribute the French-language educational television programming service operated by TVOntario ("La Chaîne française") on the basic band (channels 2 to 13), so long as it is distributed as part of the basic service.
The Commission notes that TVOntario has filed an intervention indicating that it has no objection to such carriage, so long as its service is distributed as part of the basic service. The Commission further notes that these areas have not been designated by the Ontario government to receive French-language services.
Fernand Bélisle
Secretary General
