Decision CRTC 87-737
The Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TV Ontario) Hawkesbury and Sudbury, Ontario - 863192100 - 862825700
Following a Public Hearing in the National Capital Region on 9 July 1987, the Commission approves the applications for licences for French-language television broadcasting transmitting undertakings at Hawkesbury and Sudbury, on channels 39 and 25 with effective radiated powers of 6,840 watts and 164,400 watts respectively to rebroadcast the programs of La Chaîne française, received via satellite.
The Commission will issue licences expiring 30 September 1991, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licences to be issued.
With respect to the Hawkesbury undertaking, the Commission notes that an intervention was received from Mr. Sam Woosey expressing concern about the proximity of the proposed antenna tower to a neighbouring airstrip facility. The Commission notes that the licensee has submitted the necessary evidence confirming that the site proposed is in accordance with the Department of Communications (DOC) and Transport Canada requirements.
It is a condition of licence that construction of the stations be completed and that they be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or such further period as the Commission may, upon receipt of a request for extension before the expiry of the said twelve months, deem appropriate under the circumstances.
