Decision

Ottawa, 22 June 1987
Decision CRTC 87-500
Douglas Martin
Maria (Reserve), Quebec - 862269800
Following a Public Hearing in Montreal on 12 May 1987, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for a Micmac, English- and French-language special FM radio station at Maria (Reserve) on the frequency 93.1 MHz, channel 226, with an effective radiated power of 1 watt.
The Commission will issue a licence expiring 31 August 1991, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
The new station will provide locally-produced programming designed to serve the needs of the Maria Reserve and will feature 11 hours and 30 minutes each of English- and Micmac-language programming as well as one hour of French-language programming per week.
It is a condition of licence that construction of the station be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or such further period as the Commission may, upon receipt of a request for extension before the expiry of the said twelve months, deem appropriate under the circumstances.
