Decision

Ottawa, 12 June 1987
Decision CRTC 87-444
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Gillam, Manitoba - 863170700
Following a Public Hearing in Winnipeg on 28 April 1987, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for an FM radio station at Gillam on the frequency 99.9 MHz, channel 260A, with an effective radiated power of 54 watts to rebroadcast the programs of the CBC English-language AM radio network service originating from CBW Winnipeg.
The Commission will issue a licence expiring 30 September 1989, subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued. This term will enable the Commission to consider the renewal of this licence at the same time as that of CBW Winnipeg.
The CBC has indicated that it is replacing the low-power unprotected AM station CBWG Gillam with the proposed FM facilities in order to alleviate power line noise. The Commission notes that the use of this new FM frequency conforms with the guidelines set out in Public Notices CRTC 1985-86 and 1985-142 dated 2 May and 9 July 1985 respectively.
