Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1986-6 dated 10 January 1986, the Commission approves the applications to change the authorized distribution for the broadcasting receiving undertakings serving Thessalon and Iron Bridge by adding the carriage of the signals of WGTQ (ABC) and WWUP-TV (CBS) Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, received over-the-air, and deleting the signals of WXYZ-TV (ABC) and WJBK-TV (CBS) Detroit, Michigan, received via satellite from the Canadian Satellite Communications Inc. (CANCOM) network.

The Commission notes that, as a result of the approval noted above, there will be no change in the monthly fee since a $3.22 flat rate per subscriber is charged this licensee by CANCOM for the delivery of its signals and it will continue to provide the signals of CHCH-TV and CHAN-TV.

The Commission notes that, in accordance with Public Notice CRTC 1985-72, the licensee has ceased to distribute the signal of TCTV Montreal, received via CANCOM, at Thessalon, because of the lack of interest in the community for this service. The licensee has confirmed that the CBFT Montreal French-language service will continue to be provided to subscribers.

The Commission has taken into consideration the intervention by Mr. Wayne Tremblay, opposing the deletion of the Detroit and TCTV signals at Thessalon and the licensee's response. It is satisfied that approval of the changes in distribution at Thessalon is in accordance with Commission policy for core market communities and reflects the expressed preference of the Thessalon Town Council.
