Decision

Ottawa, 20 March 1986
Decision CRTC 86-239
CJMR 1190 Radio Limited
Mississauga, Ontario - 852359900
Following a Public Hearing in Toronto commencing 3 December 1985, the Commission approves the application to amend the existing Promise of Performance for CJMR Mississauga in accordance with the policy guidelines set out in Public Notice CRTC 1985-139 entitled "A Broadcasting Policy Reflecting Canada's Linguistic and Cultural Diversity" and the Radio (A.M.) Broadcasting Regulations as amended (SOR/86-193 dated 6 February 1986), subject to the provisions set out in this decision.
The Commission notes that CJMR is a day-time only station and consequently its hours of operation may vary. In line with the licensee's proposal, the Commission authorizes, by conditions of licence, this English-language radio station to devote 17% of its broadcast week to ethnic programming of which a minimum of 25% is to be devoted to programs of Types A and B.
The Commission also requires, as a condition of licence, that CJMR broadcast programs directed to a minimum of four cultural groups in at least six different languages.
