ELIGIBLE SATELLITE SERVICES
In Public Notice CRTC 1986-182, the Commission issued its new Cable Television Regulations. Pursuant to paragraphs 24(1)(g) and (h) of these revised regulations, Part III licensees are now authorized to distribute any eligible Canadian or non-Canadian satellite service contained in the list of services authorized for distribution by such licensees. Similarly, section 10(1)(h) of the regulations authorizes Class 1 and Class 2 licensees to whom Part II of the regulations apply to distribute any satellite services contained on the relevant list, subject to the tiering and linkage requirements set out in Public Notice CRTC 1984-81.
Attached to this public notice are the lists of eligible satellite services. The lists, entitled Part III Eligible Canadian Satellite Services and Part III Eligible Non-Canadian Satellite Services, apply to all Part III licensees while the list entitled Part II Eligible Satellite Services applies to all others.
It should be noted that licensees are authorized to carry only those services that are on the most recent list of eligible satellite services issued by the Commission.

Authorization for the above-noted services is subject to the following:
-when this list of Part III eligible Canadian satellite services is replaced by another list of Part III eligible Canadian satellite services, the only authorized services will be those contained in the most recent list; accordingly, this list supersedes the list dated 4 April 1985;
-in the case of out-of-province educational services, there should be no objection on the part of the originating service;
-in the case of CANCOM signals, ASN and La Sette, licensees are required to enter into the necessary contractual arrangements for such carriage;
-in the case of TCTV and CHAN-TV, a licensee also distributing the signal of a local TVA/CTV affiliate shall delete the duplicate programming from the CANCOM services or substitute the local service(s) when the programming is identical.
