Decision

Ottawa, 23 June 1986
Decision CRTC 86-596
The Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TV Ontario)
Toronto, Ontario - 860299700
Following a Public Hearing in Toronto on 6 May 1986, the Commission approves the application by The Ontario Educational Communications Authority (TV Ontario) for a network licence for the purpose of broadcasting the proceedings of the Ontario Legislative Assembly, including the proceedings of its committees, via satellite. The licence will expire 30 September 1990 and will be subject to the conditions specified in the licence to be issued.
TV Ontario proposes to make this service available to cable systems in Ontario as an optional signal and may, in the future, apply to distribute the service via low-power television transmitters in those areas where cable service is not available. In this regard, the Commission wishes to emphasize that the authority granted herein applies only for the distribution of the proceedings of the Legislative Assembly and its committees.
Fernand Bélisle
Secretary General
