TELESAT CANADA/TELECOM CANADA CONNECTION AGREEMENT
Reference: Telesat Canada Tariff Notice 114
The Commission has received applications from Telesat Canada (Telesat), dated 15 July 1985 and Bell Canada (Bell), dated 16 July 1985 for approval of a Memorandum of Agreement amending Schedule A to the Connecting Agreement made between Telesat and the members of Telecom Canada on 31 December 1976.
As directed by the Commission, in letters dated 12 August 1985 and 13 August 1985 respectively, Telesat and Bell filed the documentation required pursuant to section 46(2)(a) of the CRTC Telecommunications Rules of Procedures.
The Commission has also received an application from Telesat under Tariff Notice 114 dated 15 July 1985, for approval to amend its General Tariff CRTC 8001 for the purpose of revising the definition of a customer.
Under the proposed amendment, Telesat is permitted to develop, market and sell, all satellite services to end users. Other changes include the implementation of a ceiling on the transfer payments for the period 1985-1987, with the termination of such payments thereafter. In addition, Telesat will be guaranteed minimum utilization of Telesat's space and earth segment by other members of Telecom Canada for a specified period of time.
Bell's application may be examined at any of its business offices or at the offices of the CRTC, Room 561, Central Building, Les Terrasses de la Chaudière, 1 Promenade du Portage, Hull, Quebec or Complex Guy Favreau, East Tower, 200 Dorchester Blvd. West, 6th floor, Montreal, Quebec. A copy of the application may be obtained by any interested party upon request directed to Bell at the address shown below.
Telesat's applications may be examined at its business offices at 333 River Road, Ottawa, Ontario or at the offices of the CRTC, Room 561, Central Building, Les Terrasses de la Chaudière, 1 Promenade du Portage, Hull, Quebec. A copy of the applications may be obtained by any interested party upon request directed to Telesat at the address shown below.

The Commission has granted the proposed Memorandum of Agreement and the proposed tariff revisions interim approval and will make a final determination after comments in response to this public notice have been considered.
