The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CBH Halifax from 1 November 1985 until 31 October 1986, subject to the terms and conditions of the present licence.
Subsequent to the issuance of Decision CRTC 85-752 renewing the licence for CBH from 1 October 1985 to 31 October 1985, the Commission grants a one-year renewal of the present licence to enable the CBC to undertake the necessary studies to determine the best way to ensure that residents of the Halifax area continue to have access to the CBC's basic radio network service. The CBC has undertaken to report to the Commission on the outcome of such studies within a period of three months.
Accordingly, the CBC is expected to file a report within three months of the date of this Decision to determine the best way to ensure that residents of the Halifax area continue to have access to the best and most complete CBC radio service technically deliverable in the area, keeping in mind the scarcity of public frequencies.
Decision CRTC 85-752 also referred to CBD Saint John, New Brunswick, whose licence expires 30 September 1987. The CBC has assured the Commission that a similar study will be undertaken for that community, and that a report will be submitted in this regard within three months.
