Following a Public Hearing in Hull, Quebec on 1 May 1984, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission announces that it approves the application for a broadcasting licence for a French-language AM radio station at L'Anse-Saint-Jean on the frequency 990 kHz, with a transmitter power of 40 watts to rebroadcast the programs of the CBC French-language AM radio network originating from CBJ Chicoutimi. The Commission will issue a licence expiring 31 March 1989, subject to the conditions of licence specified in the licence to be issued.
The Commission acknowledges the intervention from the Municipality of L'Anse-Saint-Jean in support of the application.
The frequency approved by this decision is an unprotected frequency. Accordingly, the licensee would have to select another frequency for the operation of the station should optimum utilization of the broadcasting spectrum so require.
