Decision

Ottawa, 31 May 1984
Decision CRTC 84-463
Comité de la Radio Communautaire
Huronne - Wyandot Inc. Village-des-Hurons, Quebec - 832825400
Following a Public Hearing in Hull, Quebec on 1 May 1984, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission announces that it approves the application for a broadcasting licence for a French (50%), Huron (30%) and Montagnais-language (20%) FM community radio station at Village-des-Hurons on the frequency 100.3 MHz, channel 262, with an effective radiated power of 50 watts.
The Commission will issue a licence expiring 30 September 1987, subject to the conditions of licence specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
The Commission notes that this community station will receive funding from various sources. Consequently, it is a condition of licence that the licensee retain full control over all decisions concerning the management and programming of this station.
The Commission considers that this community FM radio station will provide an important service to residents of Village-des-Hurons and encourages the applicant to promote community interest in, and access to, this service for the development of relevant programs that reflect the linguistic and social characteristics of the community.
The frequency approved by this decision is an unprotected frequency. Accordingly, the licensee will have to select another frequency for the operation of the station should optimum utilization of the broadcasting spectrum so require.
It is a condition of licence that construction of the station be completed and that it be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or such further period as the Commission may, upon receipt of a request for extension before the expiry of the said twelve months, deem appropriate under the circumstances.
Fernand Bélisle Secretary General
