Providing Content in Canada's Official Languages

Please note that the Official Languages Act requires that government publications be available in both official languages.

In order to meet some of the requirements under this Act, the Commission's transcripts will therefore be bilingual as to their covers, the listing of CRTC members and staff attending the hearings, and the table of contents.

However, the aforementioned publication is the recorded verbatim transcript and, as such, is transcribed in either of the official languages, depending on the language spoken by the participant at the hearing.

Opening of Hearing at 11:00 a.m.

Chair: Order please.

Good morning ladies and gentlemen and welcome to this hearing of the Commission. My name is Christopher MacDonald, Commissioner for the Atlantic Region and Nunavut, and I will chair this hearing. With me on the panel are my colleagues, Linda Vennard, Commissioner for Alberta and the Northwest Territories, and Joanne T. Levy, Commissioner for Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Sonia Gravelle will be the Hearing Secretary and Michael McDonald will be our Legal Counsel. Madam Secretary, what are the items on the agenda for today?

Secretary: Thank you Mr. Chair.

On 16 January 2019, the Commission published Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2019-10. The applications referenced in these notices are being considered today without the appearance of the parties.

The Commission has received interventions for some of the applications and they have been placed on the public file for this hearing.

Thank you Mr. Chair.

Chair: Thank you. Any questions from the panel members?

Linda Vennard: No questions Mr. Chair.

Joanne T. Levy: No questions Mr. Chair.

Chair: I should emphasize that the matters that form part of the Agenda will be given full consideration by the hearing panel and the decision will be release in due course after consultation with the full Commission. This therefore concludes today’s hearing. I wish to thank my colleagues, Legal Counsel and the Hearing Secretary for their assistance. The hearing is now adjourned.

Secretary: Thank you Mr. Chair.

The hearing adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
