1. Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia
Application 2010-0780-8
Application by MacEachern Broadcasting Limited relating to the English-language commercial FM radio programming undertaking CIGO-FM Port Hawkesbury.
The licensee proposes to change the authorized contours of the station by increasing the effective radiated power from 19,000 to 40,000 watts (non-directional antenna with an effective height of antenna above average terrain at 171.1 metres). All other technical parameters remain unchanged.
The licensee stated that the proposed changes would result in a better quality signal to listeners located in the Port Hawkesbury part of its authorized contours who are currently experiencing poor reception of CIGO-FM.
The Commission notes that the change would increase the authorized contours of the station. The population residing in the 3mV/m contour and in the 0.5mV/m contour would also increase from 13,424 to 16,296 (21.39%) and 46,718 to 48,801 (4.45%) respectively.
