Application 2008-1434-4, received 24 October 2008 | |
CKHJ Fredericton and its transmitter CKHJ-2-FM Oromocto – Technical change |
|
1. | The Commission approves the application by Astral Media Radio Atlantic Inc. to change the authorized contours of its transmitter CKHJ-2-FM Oromocto, by increasing the effective radiated power from 50 watts to 250 watts, by decreasing the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 27 metres to 23.5 metres and by changing the class from 278LP to 278A1. The implementation is subject to the notification by the Department of Industry (the Department) set out in paragraph 3 below. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application. |
2. | The licensee stated that this change is necessary due to audience fragmentation caused by increased interference from out-of-market stations and will allow the licensee to improve the quality of its signal. |
Conditions prior to the implementation of the new technical parameters |
|
3. | The Commission reminds the licensee that pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued. Therefore, in the absence of the notification by the Department, the licensee will not be able to implement the new technical parameters approved in this decision. |
