Administrative renewals

The Commission renews the broadcasting licences for the radiocommunication distribution undertakings multipoint distribution systems (MDS) listed in the appendix to this decision, until 31 August 2011, subject to the terms and conditions in effect under the current licences. The current licence expiry dates are also set out in the appendix.

The Department of Industry has indicated that it will be conducting a MDS spectrum auction. For that reason, it is not prepared, at this time, to renew the broadcasting certificates for MDS undertakings beyond 2011. In the circumstances, the Commission considers that it is appropriate to administratively renew the licences for these undertakings until 31 August 2011.

This decision does not dispose of any substantive issue that may exist with respect to the renewal of these licences and interested parties will have an opportunity to comment at the appropriate time.
