Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2003-180

  Ottawa, 12 June 2003
  Rogers Broadcasting Limited
Winnipeg, Manitoba
  Application 2003-0170-6

CITI-FM Winnipeg - Technical change

1.

The Commission approves the application by Rogers Broadcasting Limited to decrease the effective radiated power (ERP) of the radio programming undertaking CITI-FM Winnipeg, from 210,000 watts to 100,000 watts, and to change the authorized contours.

2.

The licensee indicated that it would relocate the transmitter 20 kilometres north of the current site. The Commission notes a slight decrease in the contours south of the station, resulting from the decrease in ERP and the relocation of the transmitter.

3.

The Department of Industry (the Department) has advised the Commission that, while this application is conditionally technically acceptable, it will only issue a broadcasting certificate when it has determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.

4.

The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
