Dear Sir:
Re: Application 2001-0462-0 - Approval
Extension of time limit
CHNO-FM Sudbury, Ontario
Application No. 2001-0462-0
This is further to your application dated 30 March 2001 to amend the broadcasting licence of CHNO-FM Sudbury, approved in Decision CRTC 99-404, by temporarily operating the new radio service with revised parameters. Specifically, you requested authority to decrease the effective radiated power from 100,000 watts to 2,900 watts at a lower antenna height, resulting in reduced coverage, but for a temporary period only, as a permanent proposed amendment is currently before the Commission (2000-2035-5).
We also note that CHNO-FM has implemented Administrative Approval No. A00-0030 dated 14 April 2000 to temporarily operate at an effective radiated power of 2,900 watts.
We are pleased to inform you that the Commission has no objection to this proposal, subject to Industry Canada's approval. This approval is valid until 4 October 2001, subject to the decision to be issued relating to the proposed amendment of CHNO-FM's parameters (2000-2035-5).
We note that the application presently before the CRTC is complete from the Commission's perspective, and a public notice will be issued upon receipt of a "technically acceptable" certificate from Industry Canada.
Should a decision not be issued within the period stipulated in this letter or, should the Commission refuse to approve an extension requested by the licensee, the authority granted shall lapse and become null and void upon expiry of the period of time granted herein or upon the termination of the last approved extension period.
In order that the Commission's files be kept up-to-date, you are required to advise the Commission of the actual date of implementing these changes.
All letters of approval issued by the Commission are made available for public examination at the Commission's central office. The Commission requires you to append this letter of approval and the associated service area map to the licence of your undertaking.
Yours sincerely,
Ursula Menke
Secretary General
