Maple Leaf Channel |
|
On 24 November 2000, the Commission approved a Category 2 specialty television service to be known as Maple Leaf Channel. The terms and conditions generally applicable to Category 2 services are set out in the public notice accompanying this and other decisions released today. |

Conditions of licence |
|
The licence, when issued, will expire 31 August 2007 and will be subject to the following conditions as well as to those set out in both Public Notice CRTC 2000-171 andin the licence to be issued. |

Nature of service |
|
a) The licensee shall provide a regional English-language Category 2 specialty television service devoted to the Toronto Maple Leafs. Programming will include historical events, profiles of players, panel and call-in shows, classic Maple Leaf hockey games, interviews with Maple Leaf players, coaches and management, statistics, insights and analysis of the current hockey scene from a Maple Leaf perspective, and information as to the purchase of merchandise, tickets and collectibles. There will also be a small amount of programming related to general hockey matters, including minor hockey league hockey and hockey instruction. |

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule I to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990: |

c) No more than 5% of all programming broadcast during the broadcast year shall be dedicated to coverage of live NHL hockey games. |

Advertising |
|
The Commission denies the applicant’s request to broadcast regional advertising, in addition to paid national advertising. |
|
Definitions |
|
Broadcast day shall have the same meaning as that set out in section 2 of the Television Broadcasting Regulations, 1987. |
