Moviola

 

On 24 November 2000, the Commission approved a Category 2 specialty television service to be known as Moviola. The terms and conditions generally applicable to Category 2 services are set out in the public notice accompanying this and other decisions released today.

 

Conditions of licence

 

The licence, when issued, will expire 31 August 2007 and will be subject to the following conditions as well as to those set out in both Public Notice CRTC 2000-171 andin the licence to be issued.

 

Nature of service

 

a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service dedicated to the broadcast of short films ranging in length from 30 seconds to 40 minutes. Featuring the best of musical, dramatic, comical, experimental and animated short films, the licensee shall provide a showcase for professional, amateur, student and experimentalist animators and filmmakers in Canada.

 

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule I to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990:
2a, 2b, 3, 5b, 7c, 7e, 7f, 7g, 8b, 8c, 11, 12 and 13.

 

Definitions

 

Broadcast day refers to the 24-hour period beginning 6 a.m. each day.
