Transfer of control
1. Following a Public Hearing in the National Capital Region held on 20 July 1998, the Commission approves the application for authority to transfer effective control of Northern Cable Holdings Limited and its wholly-owned subsidiary Sudbury Cable Services Limited, licensees of the cable distribution undertakings serving the above-noted localities, through the transfer of all the issued and outstanding shares to Regional Cablesystems Inc. (Regional).
2. This application was conditional upon Commission approval of applications submitted by Vidéotron ltée, to acquire the assets of cable distribution undertakings serving Saint-Joachim-de-Montmorency (Côte-de-Beaupré) and Sainte-Pétronille (Ile d'Orléans), Quebec, from Regional. Those applications are approved in Decision CRTC 98-451, also published today.
3. The purchase price for the shares is $103.2 million, subject to adjustments. Based on the evidence filed with the application, the Commission has no concerns with respect to the availability or the adequacy of the required financing and is satisfied that approval of the application is in the public interest.
This decision is to be appended to each licence.
