Decision

Ottawa, 18 January 1993
Decision CRTC 93-14
La Radio du Pontiac Inc.
Fort Coulonge, Quebec - 912997400
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1992-60 dated 4 September 1992, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CHIP-FM Fort Coulonge by changing the frequency from 101.5 MHz (channel 268) to 101.7 MHz (channel 269) and by increasing the effective radiated power from 3,000 watts to 11,900 watts. The Commission notes that upon approval of its request, the licensee will surrender the licence for CHIP-FM-1 Chapeau.
The Commission also approves the licensee's proposal to increase its locally-produced programming from 90 to 126 hours per broadcast week, to cease the distribution of programs originating from CIMF-FM Hull, to increase the percentage of French-language programming from 60% to 70% of broadcast time and to decrease the English-language programming from 40% to 30% of broadcast time. The Commission notes however that the amount of English-language programming would increase from 36 hours per broadcast week to 37 hours and 48 minutes, as a result of the proposal to increase the station's production of local programming. The Commission also notes that the licensee will broadcast 30 hours of automated programming.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Communications that it will issue an amendment to the Broadcasting Certificate.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
