Decision

Ottawa, 12 June 1992
Decision CRTC 92-361
Campbellford Area Radio Association
Campbellford, Ontario - 920217700
Following a Public Hearing in Toronto beginning on 19 May 1992, the Commission approves the application for a broadcasting licence for an English-language FM community radio programming undertaking (Type B) at Campbellford on the frequency 98.7 MHz, channel 254, with an effective radiated power of 50 watts to broadcast community-oriented programming and local events during the tourist season.
The licence will be in effect for the months of July and August 1992, and will be subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
It is a condition of licence that the applicant broadcast weekly no more than an average of 4 minutes of advertising for every hour of broadcast, up to a total of 504 minutes of advertising per week, with a maximum of 6 minutes per hour, in accordance with the community radio policy for Type B stations, announced in Public Notice CRTC 1992-38 dated 29 May 1992.
The Department of Communications (DOC) has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the transmitter's proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services. In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DOC that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
The Commission acknowledges supporting interventions to this application submitted by several organizations and individuals in the Campbellford area.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
