Kirkland Lake Broadcasting Limited

Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1985-73 dated 9 April 1985, the Commission approves the application for authority to transfer effective control of Kirkland Lake Broadcasting Limited, licensee of CJKL Kirkland Lake and CJTT New Liskeard, through the transfer of 6,061 of the common voting shares (50.1%) from Ancell Communications Management Limited to Goldburst Investment Ltd., a company controlled (100%) by Clifford O. Connelly.
The ownership structure of Kirkland Lake Broadcasting Limited will now consist of Goldburst Investment Ltd, (50.1%) and Clifford O. Connelly (49.9%). Mr. Connelly will therefore control all of the voting shares of the licensee company.
The Commission notes that Mr. Connelly is a resident of Kirkland Lake and has already been managing these stations since December 1983 and, accordingly, is satisfied that this transfer of control is in the public interest.
The Commission also notes that the applications do not propose any changes to the programming of CJKL Kirkland Lake and CJTT New Liskeard.
