Ottawa, 11 March 1985
Decision CRTC 85-128
Native Communications Inc.

Decision CRTC 84-821 dated 27 September 1984
Following a Public Hearing in Edmonton on 10 January 1984 and Decision CRTC 84-821, the Commission renews the broadcasting licences for CFNC Cross Lake and CJNC Norway House from 1 April 1985 to 30 September 1989. These licences will be subject to the conditions of licence specified in the licences to be issued.
In view of the fact that Native Communications Inc. is supported, in part, by government loans or grants, the licensee is required to retain full control over all management and programming decisions.
The Commission notes that these stations provide programming in the Cree (approximately 97%) and English (approximately 3%) languages and constitute important local services to the residents of Cross Lake and Norway House. It expects the licensee to make every effort to promote community interest in, and provide fair access to, the stations for the development of community programs that reflect equitably the linguistic and social characteristics of all the residents of these communities.
Fernand Bélisle Secretary General
